I’ve had a big year. Both in a big-and-exciting way and in a scary, ominous, are-you-kidding-me!? kind of way. And with all that’s going on, we also decided to get a puppy (!). While this could have been a nightmare, it’s turned out to be a dream come true.
Not only is Peanut the world’s sweetest Tiny Goldendoodle, he has the kind of spirit I just can’t help but invest in. He’s my little well of joy, a well that I draw from every day to keep myself sane, my work on point, and my relationships underwritten with happiness.
Over the last 4 months, Peanut’s sweet little doggy disposition has helped my see, with such crystal clarity, that life is good. I’ve watched him grow and learn, and have tried to help him figure out the world. In return, he’s shown me these 6 truths, straight from the soul:
- Don’t worry, be happy
- Find time to play
- Get enough sleep
- Get outside
- Be curious
- Show your love
“Every day I wake up and run around like it’s my first day on Earth. Yesterday? What’s that? Tomorrow? Who knows? Look at us, look at this, it’s all so amazing! I’m pumped to be here. Being happy, making others happy, that’s my #1 priority.”
“All that adulting seems boring and stressful. Let’s play! I promise it’ll make you feel better.”
“Sleeping is the best. Enough said.”
“There’s nothing better than the sights and sounds and smells and feeling of being outside. I feel connected to the source. Warm or cold, rain or shine, let’s make time to get outside.”
“There’s so much to see and do and sniff and explore. Being interested makes me interesting. I make my own fun.”
“I love big. I’m all in. And when it comes to telling the people around them that I love them, I don’t play games. I’m forthright. I show them all day everyday because they’re important to me, and I can tell that I’m important to them.”
